Winking has been developing trouser patterns and functional fabrics since 2006. Today the company runs two dedicated pants factories and a fabric joint venture, and produces only performance pants.
Winking Apparel Limited is a performance pants manufacturer based in Guangzhou, Guangdong, China, producing sport, outdoor, ski, tactical, athleisure and golf pants for apparel brands in North America and Europe. Founded in 2006, the company operates two production bases with 530+ production staff and 16 specialist lines.
A specialist in pants, not a general garment factory
Winking was founded in 2006 to research cloth and develop trouser patterns. In 2019 the business narrowed its scope deliberately: instead of manufacturing many garment types, it concentrated on performance trousers for sport and outdoor use, and built its research around the movements those garments have to support.
That research combines human body function, sports biomechanics and the application scenario. It covers the compatibility of pattern, construction, fabric and aesthetics, which is why the company measures its pattern library in scenarios and fits rather than in style numbers.
Five professional sport categories are covered: golf, tennis, running, tactical and yoga. Seven outdoor categories are covered: rock climbing, cross-country, skiing, mountaineering, expedition, sailing and cycling.
How the company developed
Winking Apparel Limited is founded in Guangzhou and begins research into cloth and trouser pattern development.
The business refocuses on global apparel trend research and iterative development of technical fabrics and performance trouser patterns for professional sport and outdoor use.
Kaogong New Materials is established with Donghua University and Suzhou Chuanyue, bringing fabric development in house from masterbatch to dyeing and finishing.
The pattern matrix reaches 51 proprietary performance pants patterns, mapped across 15 use scenarios and three fits.
Two production bases in Jiangxi and Sichuan operate a combined 16 specialist lines with a capacity of 1.5 million pants per year.

Winking produces for brands selling into North America, South America, Western Europe, Northern Europe, Southern Europe and the Middle East. The company exhibits at international trade fairs, including CHIC in China and trade events in Dubai, where buyers can review fabric and fit in person.
